What are your paints made of?
Our paints vary by the format of the product that you purchase, and in some cases, by the color you choose. Below is a summary of our paints by format.
1. Bottle Kits
- Our primer, base color and mid coat (for tri coat) Ā and clear coat bottle paints are a waterborne paint formulated for automotive refinish.
- The base color paint is the same waterborne formulation used by many original equipment automotive manufacturers. This is a low VOC paint. Note: the application of clear coat is required to seal and protect the paint as well as to fully enable the color match.
2. Aerosol Kits
- Our primer and clear coat are single component (1K) solventborne paint.
- Our base color depends on the color you bought. You may have been sent a solventborne paint or a waterborne paint. Check the Paint can (the color coat):

An āSā code on the can indicates Solventborne paint
- If there is an āSā code on the back panel, you have a solventborne paint.
- If your can has any other code, such as P, I or U, then you have waterborne paint.
3. Pro Size Kits (half-pint, pint or quart sizes)
- Our primer and clear coat are two component (2K) urethane (solventborne) paint.
- The base color paint is the same waterborne formulation used by many original equipment automotive manufacturers. This is a low VOC paint. Note: the application of clear coat is required to seal and protect the paint as well as to fully enable the color match.
